About Cohortbridge

Built in Durham. Built for the CROs that can't afford enrollment delays.

Cohortbridge was built to solve the manual chart review problem in clinical trial feasibility — by someone who spent years watching CROs lose weeks to data that was already structured in the EHR.

Founding Story

Why we built this

Dylan Okoye spent six years as a clinical informatics specialist at a Durham-area academic medical center, building EHR reporting pipelines for research networks. Over those years, he watched CROs allocate CRA time to manual chart review — for data his team had already structured in the EHR.

The eligibility criteria were deterministic. The patient data was structured. The matching logic was straightforward. But the process connecting them was still manual, repetitive, and consuming weeks of CRA time that could have been spent on trial conduct.

Cohortbridge was built to close that gap — starting with the mid-size CROs who don't have the internal informatics resources to build these connections themselves, and who feel the enrollment timeline pressure most acutely.

Mission

"Reduce the chart review burden so CROs can focus on trial conduct, not eligibility discovery."

Clinical trial enrollment delays are a systemic problem. But they're not inevitable. The data needed to find eligible patients has been sitting in EHR systems for years — the missing piece has been structured matching infrastructure that CRO teams can actually use without a FHIR developer on staff.

Why Durham

Cohortbridge is headquartered in Durham, NC — a deliberate choice. Durham is the center of the Research Triangle, home to Duke Health and UNC Health, two of the country's largest academic medical center research networks, and adjacent to Research Triangle Park, which hosts major pharma and CRO operations.

For a company building EHR-to-protocol matching infrastructure, proximity to the health systems, academic medical centers, and CRO regional offices that make up the clinical trial ecosystem matters — both for initial EHR partnerships and for understanding the operational context in which the product is used.
